Chapter1…Tora Lasail
17 years later….
A young seventeen year old girl laid on the bank of a small river that cut through a grassy plain, she idly twirl a small weed, that had a “Y” shaped extensions, between her lips as she stared up at the clouds dark gold eyes scanning the sky for storm clouds. She sat up and sniffed the fresh air, her shoulder length black hair with white tips swishing gently against her back, sighing in a serene manner she straightened her tight light blue tang top, the heavy gauntlet gloves with a few chain links attached jangled with the movement, she stood and brushed the stray pieces of grass off her camouflage baggy pants. Stretching her arms she climbed the hill and stood on the main dirt road that lead to the city of Kasaria, she had learned four days ago that there was records in the Library that held that chronologically kept the events leading up to the final peace of war, and she wanted to know. She owned nothing except the clothes on her back and her name, her mother had died in child birth, and she had never met her father, basically she had been on her own for her entire life, always hopping to village to village, she things all across their world, and yet there was still more to see. In the last village she had stayed in two months ago she had heard rumor that in that library that there was a record of everyone who fought in the war, she was sure that she could find out more about herself there, but she did not let hope completely surround her, a smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she remembered the small family that had willingly taken her in, she remembered their ten year old son who was very tall for his age, he was a kind gentle soul that everyone loved. It was even him that asked if a girl covered in mud and in total disarray could stay with them, being a person of a polite demeanor she assured them that se would not stay for free she worked in the fields, tended to the sheep’s and goats, and ran errands to compensate for their kindness. Although all the time she spent with them she would fidget and feel out of place, because she wasn’t, and it made her feel twinges of guilt every time she lied to them. She nervously sniffed the air trying to pull away from the memories of the kind hearted souls, ‘There’s a wagon coming…Two horsed, and two humans one female one male…’ She thought as she turned toward the west where just on the horizon a bobbing shape lumbered forward, she started walking towards the bustling city which was still miles ahead she made her pace drastically slow and hunched slightly over and held her stomach like she was hungry. That was hard she hadn’t eaten in what two or three days?, ‘By the Holy Keeper!!...The hunting in these areas is so scarce and what fresh meat there was, were cattle and I don’t want yo draw attention to myself.’ She though as she felt her teeth sharpen and her mouth salivate thinking of fresh deer that she had hunted in earlier months. She shook her head harshly and rid her self of those thoughts, as the scent of horses got stronger; soon she heard a husky voice ring out, “Greetings young lady!!” Said a plump man that pulled on the reins to stop the horses, the many had a large mustache and the starting of a beard, he wore a long sleeved button up shirt with brown overalls, the woman latched on his arm smiled broadly her wide eyes, and heart shaped face shaded under a white sun hat with a yellow ribbon around the top, she wore a beautiful yellow sundress that hugged her body perfectly. The girl put her best smile she could muster, “Salutations!” She cried out in a cherry tone as her stomach grumbled, she felt her cheeks burn and smiled sheepishly at the two before she bowed slightly and headed off down the road, “Wait! Where are you heading?” The woman asked kindly, “Oh? I’m heading towards Kasaria, You?” She asked happily, “What right fine luck! That’s where our home is! Come on get it!” The man chuckled heartily, She smiled and walked to the back of the wagon and swung into the back, “Heyah!” The man cried as he cracked the reins, the woman turned back and looked at the girl and smiled, “Hello, Rasie, what’s your name?” the woman said as she handed the girl some dried meat and a deer skin flask of water, she took them eagerly and took a sip of water before she answered, sighing she smiled at the woman, “Tora, Tora Lasail.”
